Heard from Dad yesterday that Papa has been admitted to hospital with pneumonia – never a good thing at 85, but he seems to be responding well to IV antibiotics, oxygen and sleep. Fingers crossed for a speedy recovery.
Finished at 0510 this morning. Fun. Finally fixed the bug that was causing the whole server to crash due to an infinite loop. Damn, that was a hard one – I had to completely rewrite the way things were working. There was only one little bit of “tweaking” required – an extra session attribute – [...]
Cath and I saw “Kill Bill” last night. Cath saw it much the same way as I saw “Saving Private Ryan” – recognised it as a good film, but didn’t particularly enjoy it overall. I probably enjoyed it a little more, what with my enduring love of the katana, Tarantino films and Kung-Fu movies in [...]
I’d forgotten what it’s like to have a good round of golf. I shot a natural 50 on the par 33 9-hole course at Sunbury today, which, though unspectacular, is almost a personal best and far better than the 68 I shot last time there! My unofficial handicap from www.myscorecard.com is now 32. Golf mornings [...]

Yesterday I got Tim’s final coroner’s report – the toxicology was clear, which means no funny business; there was also nothing familial. It was just a tragic, spontaneous death. Some [...]
Another full day’s work, my TT282 assignment and some walking around Kingston with Cath. Picked Lucy up from the Eurostar at Waterloo – sounds like she had a brilliant time. Tomorrow will be a big one – New Guy (Kim) starts work and Lucy flies back to Oz, I’ve got a bazillion things to do [...]
A full day’s work and my TT280 assignment today. Not bad for a Saturday! Hope I can fix this damn JSP bug before lunch tomorrow though, or things are going to be looking dodgy for next week…
Wednesday afternoon we took Lucy to see Windsor and then up to see Bronek and Doreen in Beaconsfield. After racing home in the truck, we piled onto the train to meet Bain, Catherine (Barnes) and John & Elise for a Brick Lane curry. Although the Bollywood videos weren’t playing, the curry was as good as [...]
